No. 1 Washington Women Head South For OSU Classic

DEXTER LAKE, Ore. - The Washington men's and women's rowing teams will head south to Dexter Lake, Ore. this Saturday, April 8 to face a variety of west coast competition.

WASHINGTON WOMEN at DEXTER LAKE
The No. 1 Washington women are coming off a very successful road trip to Redwood Shores where they swept No. 2 Ohio State, No. 3 Michigan and No. 7 Virginia in NCAA events, and won 11 of 12 races on the weekend.

This weekend head coach Yasmin Farooq will send four boats down to Dexter Lake. In the morning, the Huskies will race in the three NCAA Championship events– the varsity eight, second varsity eight, and varsity four (two boats) – against Pac-12 opponent UCLA. In the afternoon, the same boats will compete against crews from Oregon, Washington State, and UCLA beginning at 1:00 p.m. PT.

"We are excited to get out on the race course again." said Farooq. "Last weekend was a good first step, but there is a lot of season remaining. We will not take anything for granted, and we'll continue our quest for more boatspeed."

Here's a look at the schedule of races involving the UW women at Dexter Lake:
Morning Session
9:20 a.m. PT – Women's V8, Washington vs. UCLA
9:50 a.m. PT – Women's 2V8, Washington vs. UCLA
10:20 a.m. PT – Women's V4, Washington (two boats) vs. UCLA

Afternoon Session
1:00 p.m. PT – Women's 2V4, Washington vs. Oregon, WSU, UCLA
1:15 p.m. PT – Women's V4, Washington vs. Oregon, WSU, UCLA
1:30 p.m. PT – Women's 2V8, Washington vs. Oregon, WSU, UCLA
1:45 p.m. PT – Women's V8, Washington vs. Oregon, WSU, UCLA

WASHINGTON MEN at DEXTER LAKE
The Washington men's rowing team will send six boats to Dexter Lake for the Oregon State Classic. They will begin the morning with a varsity eight race against Oregon State at 9:00 a.m. PT. Following the V8+, Washington will race Oregon State in the second, third, and fourth varsity eights. The third varsity eight will also double up in Fours.

This weekend will be the first spring race for the first and second varsity eights, as they both sat out for the Husky Open as a chance for the team to build the depth of their lineup.

"Last week was a great step for our team as a whole," said men's head coach Michael Callahan. "Saturday will be a good test for our top boats. We have worked really hard this winter on building our base speed, but now it's time to show it."

9:00 a.m. PT – Men's V8, Washington vs. Oregon State
9:30 a.m. PT – Men's 2V8, Washington vs. Oregon State
10:00 a.m. PT – Men's 3V8, Washington (A), Washington (B) vs. Oregon State
11:00 a.m. PT – Men's Bonus Boats, Washington (A), Washington (B) vs. Oregon State V4, Oregon V4, and Oregon State V8.

Additionally, the Husky men will enter boats in three races on the Snake River against Washington State on Saturday, April 9.
