There may be no richer tradition when it comes to Washington athletics than the Huskies' Olympics rowing history. Dating back to "The Boys in the Boat" – the UW men's crew that brought home a gold medal from the 1936 Berlin Games – Washington men and women have established a long track record of successes in the Olympics.
Next week in Paris, the latest group of UW rowing Olympians will get their chance to write their names in history. In all, 17 Washington Rowing alumni – the highest total for any single college – will compete, for six different nations, on the Seine, while one more will travel as a spare to the Paralympic Games in August.
Competition gets underway on Sat., July 27 and concludes with the last of the A finals on the following Sat., Aug. 3.
Following are some helpful links, followed by a look at some facts about this year's UW Rowing class of Olympians, as well as the full list, including each racing schedule.
