HENLEY-ON-THAMES, U.K. – The Washington men's rowing team had both of its two crews advance Wednesday on the second day of competition at the Henley Royal Regatta.

Washington's coxed four won its debut in The Prince Albert Challenge Cup, while the Husky eight won for the second day in a row, in The Temple Challenge Cup. Both crews are now into the quarterfinals, with eight crews remaining in each event.

The Husky four, racing for the first time on day two of the regatta, beat a crew from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, from Massachusetts, earning a victory by four and two-thirds lengths, officially. Next up is a race vs. a four from University College, Dublin (Ireland), which won its Prince Albert opener Wednesday over the University of Virginia. Thursday's race is set for 4:15 a.m. PT.

Washington's eight, racing near the end of the day's program, picked up a comfortably win over Isis Boat Club, made up primarily of rowers from Oxford University. The Huskies led throughout and built a large enough lead to row to a comfortable win, by two lengths, officially.

The Husky eight will have Thursday off before returning to the Thames on Friday to face an eight from Cornell University, which beat a Durham University (U.K.) crew by just three feet on Wednesday.
