Defending IRA Champs Announce 2025 Men's Rowing Schedule

The Washington men's rowing team begins its defense of its 20th National Championship next spring, with a schedule that includes dual regattas against four longtime rivals, among other events.

"We hope rhythm of the spring racing season will set the students up for success at the end of the season," said UW men's head coach Michael Callahan. "They face a challenging slate of fast crews on both coasts including the Bolles Trophy against Harvard in Sarasota and The Dual against California on The Montlake Cut."

The Huskies, who swept the Intercollegiate Rowing Association regatta last spring, winning the varsity eight, second varsity eight, third varsity eight and varsity fours events, launch the 2025 season with the Husky Open, March 8 on Montlake Cut. Two weeks later, the 124th annual Class Day Regatta, the tradition start to the season, will be held on March 22.

The following weekend, the UW men travel to Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, Fla. On Friday, March 28, the Huskies will race Harvard for the Bolles Cup. The next day, Washington will face Yale, Brown and Northeastern in the Sarasota Invitational and the Benderson Cup.

The month of April will see the Huskies take part in three dual regattas against West Coast rivals, beginning with the Paup Cup vs. Stanford, April 5 at Redwood Shores in the Bay Area. On April 12, the Huskies will travel to Vancouver, Wash., to face Oregon State in a dual.

The month closes with The Dual, va. California, for the Schoch Cup, April 26 on Montlake Cut.

The next weekend, the first weekend of May, welcomes the Windermere Cup and Opening Day Regatta, starting with the Twilight Sprints on Friday, May 2, and followed by the greatest one-day regatta in the world, the Windermere Cup/Opening Day Regatta on May 3.

The 2025 postseason gets underway with the Huskies' conference championship regatta (more info to come soon) on May 18, before the UW team travels to Cooper River in New Jersey for the 2025 IRA National Championship Regatta.
