Hansen Wins Gold In Two Events At Head of the Charles

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Washington women's rower Danielle Hansen was part of two winning boats this weekend at the esteemed Head of the Charles Regatta. 
 
Hansen, who was just named National Team Athlete of the Year for her efforts in the Mixed Legs, Trunk, and Arms four this summer at the Paralympics in Rio, won gold in the same event on Saturday at the Charles. The race time of 18:10.142 set a new course record for the LTA 4- at the 52nd running of the Head of the Charles Regatta.
 
The LTA 4- was a celebratory race for the US Paralympic National Team, who came home with a Silver Medal at the Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro this summer.
 
Hansen also stroked in the Directors' Challenge Mixed Eight race on Sunday, where the US Paralympic National Team placed first with a time of 17:32.218. 
 
Hansen and the rest of the Washington women's rowing team will travel to Gold River, Calif. this weekend for the Head of the American Regatta on Saturday, Oct. 29. The following weekend, the team will co-host the Head of the Lake Regatta at the Montlake Cut on Nov. 6.
