SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Washington men's rowing heads to Sacramento, Calif., and Lake Natoma for the 115th Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championship this Friday through Sunday.

The Huskies, who come into the weekend as the No. 1-ranked team in the most recent USRowing Collegiate Poll, will look to win their sixth title in seven years after their unprecedented streak of five championships in a row from 2011-15 was broken last season. California, Yale, Harvard, and Princeton round out the top five ranked teams.

"This team has showed a lot of strength and belief in one another this year," said men's head coach Michael Callahan. "They have put in all the work that it takes to succeed at this level. This group of guys has been especially fun to coach and watch develop throughout the year. The IRA field is as strong as ever this year, so we will have a tough challenge this weekend, but this group is ready."

Washington won the varsity four and freshman eight at last year's IRAs, in route to placing fourth in the Ten Eyck standings (given to the overall points winner). This year Huskies will compete in all four heavyweight events (there are also a total of six men's and women's lightweight competitions): the first, second and third varsity eights, and the varsity four. The IRA will not host a freshman eights race this season.

Washington's will race at a familiar location in Lake Natoma, as the team claimed the Pac-12 Championships there just three weeks ago. The last time that the IRAs were held at Lake Natoma, the Huskies earned titles in the varsity eight, second varsity eight, freshman eight and varsity four.
