Huskies Head To Mission Bay For San Diego Crew Classic

The Washington women's rowing team heads south to the San Diego Crew Classic this Saturday and Sunday, March 29-30.
 
Washington, ranked No. 5 in the most recent Pocock CRCA poll, will send a total of seven crews to race on Mission Bay. UW will compete in the first and second varsity eights, novice eights and open eights, as well as the varsity fours and "B" fours (where UW will have two entries). Here is the full schedule of events.

Varsity 8+: Jessop-Whittier Cup

Fans can follow all of the action at the San Diego Crew Classic's website via live video stream. The cost is $15 for the entire weekend of video streaming.
 
The field for this year's Crew Classic includes two other teams currently ranked in the top-10: No. 14 Texas and No. 8 California.
 
Last year, UW made the podium in all five collegiate races. Washington finished second in the second varsity eight race; third in the varsity eight, varsity four, and third varsity eight races; and also won the Laurel Korholz Perpetual Trophy, for novice eights, for the third year in a row.
 
Following this weekend, the UW women will have time to prepare for the Big Ten Invitational April 19-20 at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, Fla.
