LOWELL, Ore. – The Washington men's and women's rowing teams swept all races at the Oregon State Classic this Saturday, April 8 on Dexter Lake. Washington won each race of the day with open water over their opponents.

The Washington men's first and second varsity boats saw collegiate action for the first time this spring season, winning each of their races handily by multiple boat lengths of open water. The third varsity eight held the third fastest time on the course today with a 6:06.39, faster than the first and second varsity eights of Oregon State.

"We have put in a lot of work this winter," said head coach Michael Callahan. "We have put an emphasis on working hard, and these guys have done exactly that. They have earned their W and it was great to come out today and get the W."

The No. 1 Washington women continued their stellar season Saturday, winning all NCAA Championship races in both the morning and afternoon sessions. UW beat the likes of UCLA, Oregon State, Washington State and Oregon.

"Today's racing was a great stepping stone for our team," said senior Valerie Vogt. "We have a lot of work to do together, but nevertheless are gaining knowledge and speed each time we are put to the line.

"At Dexter Lake we got to experience good Husky weather, but collectively we're determined to make these races a launch pad for races to come," added Vogt. "I'm excited for our team, and what we can do."
