LOWELL, Ore. – The Washington men's rowing team swept six races Saturday at the annual UW-Oregon State Dual and Covered Bridge Regatta at Dexter Lake.

The Huskies won three head-to-head races vs. Oregon State – the first, second and third varsity eights – and also had the winning crew in three other open races at the regatta, which was held on the same, Dexter Lake race course that will host the 2023 Pac-12 Championships next month.

"We raced well today with a strong collective effort from the whole team," said UW head coach Michael Callahan. "The team has been training well, and when you train at a high level, you can expect to race at the same level. We're doing that.

The varsity eight, with an unchanged lineup from the previous Saturday's race vs. Yale and Brown in Sarasota, Fla., won its race. The UW crew, coxed by Nick Dunlop and stroked by Darcy McCluskey, crossed the finish line in 5:37.74, a little under 20 seconds ahead of Oregon State, which posted a time of 5:47.34.

The second varsity eight won its match race vs. the Beavers' JV crew. In that race, the Husky 2V crossed the finish line in 5:45.04, more than 23 seconds in front of the Beavers (6:08.44).

The Huskies opened the dual portion of the day with two crews in the third varsity race – the 3V8+ and the freshman boat. The third varsity eight won with a time of 5.42.09, a little over 12 seconds ahead of the UW freshmen. OSU's 3V8+ race was third, in 6:13.56.

Washington also had five crews – all of them doubling up – race in other events at the Covered Bridge Regatta, which featured men's and women's crews from the Pacific Northwest and California.

In the first, held before the OSU dual events, the Huskies' fourth varsity eight claimed a comfortable victory in an eight-boat race, completing the course in 6:03.13. One of two club crews from Washington State finished second, in 6:20.85.

Following the three races vs. OSU, the crews – joined by a UW fifth varsity eight – all returned for two more races (with three UW crews in each) later in the afternoon.

The first of those two featured the Huskies' third, fourth and fifth varsity crews. In the second, the UW's first and second varsity lineups squared off against four other crews.

Washington's third varsity eight earned the win, edging out the fourth Husky crew, winning in a time of 5:48.68 to the 4V8's 5:52.23. Oregon State first varsity eight was third, while the UW fifth varsity eight finished in fourth place ahead of three others.

In the final race of the regatta, the Huskies' varsity boat picked up a win with a time of 5:40.88. Washington's 2V8+ crew ran a close second, crossing in 5:44.28. Crews from Oregon State and Washington State finished third and fourth.

"We celebrated the freshmen earning their class 2026 numerals at the end of racing," Callahan explained "Everything is earned here at Washington, and earned on the race course. We look forward to training for the challenges ahead."

Next up for Washington is the 111th UW-Cal Dual, as the Golden Bears' men's and women's programs will travel to Montlake Cut on April 22. That regatta will also serve as the rowing programs' Title IX Celebration, marking the 50th anniversary of the landmark legislation.
