Huskies Head To Mission Bay For San Diego Crew Classic

The Washington women’s rowing team heads south to the San Diego Crew Classic this Saturday and Sunday, March 29-30. Washington, ranked No. 5 in the most recent Pocock CRCA poll, will send a total of seven crews to race on Mission Bay. UW will compete in the first and second varsity eights, novice eights and open eights, as well as the varsity fours and “B” fours (where UW will have two entries). UW Men Open Season Vs. Top-10 Field In Sarasota

The Washington men’s rowing team opens the competitive spring season this weekend when the Huskies compete Friday and Saturday at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, Fla. On Friday, Washington will face Harvard in a dual regatta for the Bolles Cup, competing in four race categories (first, second, third and fourth varsity eights).

Fifth-Year Women, Junior Men Win At 124th Class Day

The junior men and the fifth-year women won the featured races Saturday at Washington Rowing’s 124th annual Class Day Regatta, on Montlake Cut. Class Day, first established in 1901, pits a crew from each class (freshmen, sophomores, juniors, etc.) against one another in men’s and women’s races, and signifies the official start of the spring rowing season each year at UW.

The Washington women’s rowing team opened the spring season with wins in all of its races at the Husky Open Saturday morning on the Montlake Cut. A total of 11 UW crews each raced twice, with Oregon State and the University of British Columbia competing in some of the races, while several events featured only Husky crews.

UW Men’s Rowing Joins Mountain Pacific Sports Federation

The Washington men’s rowing team is proud to announce that, effective immediately, the program will compete in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation. The Huskies will be joined by the men’s rowing teams from California, Gonzaga, Oregon State, San Diego, Santa Clara, Stanford and UC San Diego in comprising the eight-team MPSF for men’s rowing.
