Washington crews finished in the top three spots in the Championship Women’s Eight, Sponsored by Pocock Racing Shells Sunday at the 2024 Head of the Lake Regatta. UW crews also won the Collegiate Fours and the Collegiate Pairs events.

The Washington men’s rowing team won every race in which it competed Sunday at the Head of the Lake Regatta, taking top honors in every men’s collegiate in the fall season finale. The Head of the Lake Regatta is a time-trial head race that runs from the south end of Lake Union, through Portage Bay and the Montlake Cut and ends in Lake Washington’s Union Bay, near Conibear Shellhouse.

Washington won the men’s championship fours and finished in the top five in both the men’s and women’s championships eights at the Head of the Charles Regatta, Sunday. Washington won the men’s fours event for the first time in program history. UW was just the second college crew to win the event since 2012.

The Washington men’s rowing team has added two new members to the coaching staff as the 2024-25 season gets underway. Olympic Gold Medalist Michael Grady and former Notre Dame men’s team head coach Quinn Klocke have joined the program as assistant coaches, the Blake W. Nordstrom Head Coach for Washington Men’s Rowing Michael Callahan announced today.

Untied States Olympians Brooke Mooney and Maddie Wanamaker have joined the Washington women’s rowing staff as assistant coaches ahead of the 2024-25 season, head coach Yasmin Farooq announced today.

Washington men’s rowing coach Michael Callahan, who helped lead the United States men’s eight to its first Olympic medal since 2008, has been awarded the Order of Ikkos from the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee.

Washington Rowing completed an historically successful Olympic Games, as eight more UW alumni earned medals Saturday on the final day of the Paris regatta. In all, 11 Washington rowers won Olympic medals, the highest total in program history.

Washington Rowing alumna Jessica Thoennes ’18 finished fourth in the women’s pairs final Friday morning at the 2024 Olympic Games, matching the best American finish in that race category since 2000. Saturday, 10 UW alumni will race for medals on the final day of the regatta.
