Washington rowing won national championships in the freshman eight and the varsity four Sunday at the 114th Intercollegiate Rowing Association championships on Mercer Lake.
The Washington women’s rowing team finished fifth at the 2016 NCAA Championships as the Huskies’ varsity four earned a silver medal and the second varsity eight took home a bronze Sunday at Lake Natoma.
The Washington Rowing program could not have asked for a better result in the 30th Annual Windermere Cup, as both the men’s and women’s rowing teams took home the Windermere Cup and the Erickson Cascade Cup for their respective programs.
Eighty years after their legendary feat, recognition for Washington Rowing’s 1936 eight-oared crew continues to come. Tonight, the Pac-12 Conference honored “The Boys In The Boat” as the conference’s Varsity Eight of the Century.
