The No. 1-ranked Washington men’s rowing team held off a late challenge from New Zealand to retain the Windermere Cup Saturday on Montlake Cut, wrapping up a clean sweep of races at the Windermere Cup & Opening Day Regatta.
The Washington women’s varsity eight won its 28th Windermere Cup and the Huskies swept all six women’s collegiate events Saturday at the Windermere Cup/Opening Day Regatta on Montlake Cut.
Washington Rowing, along with Windermere Real Estate, welcomes men’s and women’s crews from the New Zealand National Team and the Indiana University for the 39th annual Windermere Cup, this Saturday, May 3, 2025. New Zealand is sending men’s and women’s crews to compete in the Windermere Cup races, while Indiana’s women’s program will compete in the women’s Windermere and Cascade (second varsity eights) Cups, as well as the varsity four and second varsity four events.
The third-ranked Washington women’s rowing team regained the Simpson Cup with a win over No. 9 California in the varsity eight race at The Dual Saturday morning on Montlake Cut. The Washington women won the first and second varsity eight races, as well as the varsity fours, while California won the third and fourth varsity eights and second varsity fours.
Trailing nearly the entire race, the No. 2 Washington men’s varsity eight came from behind to beat No. 1 California and win the Schoch Cup in the 113th edition of The Dual Saturday morning on Montlake Cut. Washington won the first, second and third varsity eight races, while California won in the fourth varsity eight and the freshmen eight.
The third-ranked Washington women’s rowing team won three of four races Sunday at the Big Ten Invitational, finishing the weekend with 11 wins in 12 races at Nathan Benderson Park. After an 8-for-8 Friday, the Huskies won their races in the second varsity eights, and first and second varsity fours, and finished second in the varsity eight on Saturday.
The third-ranked Washington women’s rowing team won all eight of its races Friday on day one of the Big Ten Invitational at Nathan Benderson Park. The first day of the two-day regatta featured two rounds of races for the four UW crews in attendance. In the morning, Washington faced Iowa, Notre Dame, Penn, Indiana and Clemson in the first and second varsity fours, and the first and second varsity eights.
The Washington women’s rowing team travels cross-country this weekend to participate in the two-day B1G Invitational Regatta, Friday and Saturday at Nathan Benderson Park. The Huskies will join all 11 of the Big Ten women’s rowing varsity programs, along with an additional list of 12 invitees from other conferences.
The No. 2-ranked Washington men’s rowing team will send three crews to Vancouver (Wash.) Lake this Saturday to take on No. 22 Oregon State in a dual regatta. The dual will feature just two races – one in eights and one in fours – with multiple crews from both UW and Oregon State in each race, and with many of the rowers competing both in an eight and then in a four.
